Today is World Wildlife Day!
This is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation, as well as celebrating the biodiversity of the planet.
On this day in 1973, the International Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna was signed. This is meant to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants is not a threat to the species. This day was proclaimed as World Wildlife Day in 2013 by the United Nations General Assembly.
