In 1949, the short Fast and Furry-ousdebuted in theaters. This short debuted the iconic Looney Toons characters known as Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. Created by animator Chuck Jones and writer/storyboard artist Michael Maltese, the two would star in nearly 50 shorts, nearly all of them focusing on the ever-hungry Wile E. in the deserts trying to catch the Road Runner so he can have him for dinner. As the dinner, if you didn't get it. Often, the coyote would use devices from the ACME Corporation in his attempts to catch the Road Runner, said devices always backfiring in a humorous manner.
The two were created to parody the likes of Tom and Jerry, but they would become beloved figures in their own right. They would appear in other projects with their fellow Looney Toons, like in movies, comics and video games. In fact, Wile E. and Road Runner crossed over with Lobo, of all characters, in a series of crossover comics with characters from the DC Universe. This was rather easy to pull off because both DC Comics and the Looney Toons are owned by Warner Bros.
In 2018, it was announced that development had begun on a new live-action animation hybrid film called Coyote vs. Acme. Inspired by the Ian Frazier-penned 1990 New Yorker story of the same name, it tells the tale of Wile E. Coyote suing the ACME Corporation for allegedly selling him faulty products.
Filmed from March to May 2022 in New Mexico, Warner Bros. had originally shelved the film in November 2023 after completion f6or the purpose of getting a $30 million tax write-off. This announcement resulted in backlash towards the studio from other creatives and fans, forcing WB to shop around for distributors of the film. In 2025, Ketchup Entertainment would get the distribution right, and now we're here.
Directed by Dave Green, the film stars Will Forte as Wile E. Coyote's lawyer in his lawsuit against Acme, John Cena as ACME's lawyer, Lana Condor as the niece of Will Forte's character...as well as a whole bunch of Looney Tunes characters. Let's look at the trailer!
You'd think after all these years, Wile E. would finally get the hint and get stuff from another company. What, is ACME stuff that cheap?
Ooh, that explosion will leave a mark!
To be fair, I can't blame Wile E. for holding the sign up. Even his patience has limits.
Yeah, Wile E. Don't give the prosecution ammunition.
...how was being hit by a train from a pattern he painted his fault? No seriously, that was in one of the old cartoons.
He had one payment left on that car! Come on!
I got a chuckle out of John Cena's face while gripping Tweety.
Foghorn Leghorn as the CEO of ACME and John Cena wearing a Stetson. Comedy gold.
That was likely the closest he has ever gotten to catching the Road Runner.
I will laugh so hard if all of that was just for Bugs to make a short cameo.
As a fan of the Looney Tunes cartoons growing up, this trailer makes me feel like a kid again. I am so happy that this film will get to be seen, and you bet I will be there to watch it! It looks like it will be a great time! Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! Some time back, I wrote about the teaser for the upcoming new live-action Street Fighter movie. I thought it looked like some harmless silly fun. So, let's travel back to the wild year of 1993 and look at this trailer!
Yeah, I don't see the point of this whole "Trailer Starts Now" thing. I mean, why is it here? I know it's a tiny little thing, only like, a couple seconds, but I just wonder why they do it. More curious than annoyed, to be honest.
Chun-Li: "LOOK AT MY NICE NEW BOOT!" She's very proud of her nice new boots. Can't wait to kick some butt in them.
I get the impression that Shadaloo here is kind of like Ancient Rome, a beautiful place with a very dark underbelly.
The people love them some Ken Masters.
I think it would be nice if the trailer used a song from 1993. People were making music then.
I think Chun-Li is working undercover here. She's the one gathering the fighters and is hoping to have them help her take down M. Bison. Would fit her motivation in the games.
I love that they let Guile have his wild flattop. 👍
Ooh, El Fuerte did not have a good time in the ring that day.
Ken wasting perfectly good champagne. I mean for other people to enjoy, I'm a teetotaler. I do not drink alcoholic beverages.
Yeah, I'm betting Ken's arc is his rediscovering his fighter roots or something like that. Classic story, nothing wrong with that.
Heh heh, he's beating up a car. Another game reference.
Okay, now we got an actual 90s song here. And even better? "What's Up?" was actually released...in 1993!
Dear goodness, the size of that lad! Where did they findthis guy? And what does he eat?!
Heh heh, you can tell Ryu and Ken are bros. Either that, or Ryu really owes Ken some money.
Well, the tournament is being held by M. Bison. Of course it's not going to be on the complete up-and-up.
Again, it would have been so funny if Cody Rhodes screamed "AMERICAAAAAAAAA!" as he gave Vega that Flash Kick.
Chun Li: "Oh yeah? Well, everyone goes crazy over your butt, but I don't see why!"
Getting pile-driven into a car. That would SUCK.
...yeah, I'll be doing a lot of that during the movie.
Acknowledge Akuma. ☝
BLANKA.
Guile ain't lyin'.
AND WE HAVE A HADOUKEN! I love that it seemingly takes time to charge, like it's something that requires a lot of effort and concentration to pull off. You have to be good to pull off that move.
Well, I was excited for this movie before, but now I am even more hyped! This film is going to be a fun time at the theater. I can't wait to watch this movie! Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! If you enjoy what I write and want to give this blog a little additional support, please make a donation to my Ko-fi! The Mighty Marvel Cinematic Universe marches on! The franchise has touched various forms of media, including, naturally television. And coming soon is another television special starring Marvel's resident lethal vigilante: Frank Castle, the Punisher.
The Punisher: One Last Kill has Jon Bernthal reprise his role as Castle. He's previously appeared in various other Marvel series: Daredevil, Daredevil: Born Again, and will also appear in the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Bernthal also co-wrote the special with the director, Reinaldo Marcus Green. This upcoming special will see Frank Castle finally try to live a life of peace, but sadly as it goes into these things, Frankie will have to pick up his guns one final time. This special also will introduce iconic Punisher villainess Ma Gnucci to the MCU. Let's look at the trailer!
Bill, he's busy meditating. Come back later.
That'll hurt.
I get the feeling Frank's an atheist.
Frank forgot to shut off the tub faucet again!
"OH GOD FIRE HURTS WHY DID I LET MY LEGS GET ABLAZE I NEED WATER!"
Frank loves his new hoodie and he wanted to show it off. I don't blame him. It's a nice hoodie. Seems cozy.
Remember kids, if your assault rifle has no bullets left in it, you can still beat up people with it.
"Man, I can rock a hoodie!"
The bulletproof vest with the skull painted on it always looks cool. It's always nice to see it in live action.
I think this will be a fun watch. While the Punisher is not exactly my favorite of Marvel's menagerie of mayhem-fighters, I have enjoyed Jon Bernthal's performance as Frank, and I have enjoyed some comic stories with him in it. I also am curious as to how Ma Gnucci will be portrayed here...and if she'll end up mauled by polar bears like in the comics. Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
The Mighty Marvel Cinematic Universe marches on! Tom Holland returns to the webbed costume of Marvel's mightiest mascot: Spider-Man in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day! Directed by Daniel Destin Cretton (who also had directed Shang-Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings), and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, this film will the MCU's 38th movie (part of Phase Six), and this'll be the first time a live-action Spider-Man got a fourth film. This film will also see the return of Zendaya as Michelle "MJ" Jones, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and it will also see Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo appear as Frank Castle/Punisher and Bruce Banner/Hulk. Let's look at the trailer!
Sounds like our Mr. Parker is feeling a bit of regrets about his actions in No Way Home. Yes, he made that sacrifice to save his world, but maybe he felt the price was far too high.
I think Peter needs a hand. And a vacation.
Hey, it's that lady from Daredevil: Born Again!
I think she was working for Fisk. My guess is at the point of this film, he may still be the mayor of NYC.
Frank running into Peter made me chuckle. I like to think that's happened quite a few times between them.
Frank: Aw God, not you again! How does this keep happening?! Peter: ...we live in the same city, you gun-crazed goof!
RIDER KICK THROUGH THE WINDOW!
Woof, Peter at the party...and MJ got a new beau.
I hope to God, it's Paul Rabin. Because the meltdowns from Spider-Man fans will be hilarious.
But seriously, Pete shouldn't worry. There's plenty of fish in the sea. I mean, Peter has hooked up with other women in the comics. I wonder if he'll meet Gwen or Felicia in this movie...
Pete! Go to bed!
Yeah, I think they're drawing from The Other for this film. Peter's powers are going bonkers here like that story. I wonder if they'll also draw from the Six Arms Saga.
It's Keith David! That voice is very distinct. Based on his dialogue here, I think he's playing Ezekiel Sims.
The Scorpion!
That girl on the bus kind of resembles Rogue. I think it's a red herring. Something slipped in to get people talking.
Amazing Fantasy #15 cover reference!
The Tarantula! Also, that moment was a reference to the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #134 (July 1974), drawn by the late Ross Andru. That comic introduced the first Tarantula: Antonio Rodriguez. I think he's the Tarantula Peter is fighting here.
Spider-Man vs. the Hand. Hey, why not? In the comics, he's fought lots of villains outside his own rogues gallery.
Casual reminder that Spider-Man goes hard, as they say. Remember, he's a lot more powerful than he seems. He just holds back a lot to avoid hurting others.
Yeah, I think that last shot was altered to hide something important, like No Way Home's trailer was altered to hide the Garfield and Maguire Spider-Men.
I just had a crazy thought. Daniel Deston Cretton directed Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings. He's directing this film. And Peter seems to be battling the Hand here. Maybe this'll set up Shang-Chi and Peter meeting down the line? 🤔
I'm personally hyped! I can't wait to see this movie! I know it'll be a blast! I've been enjoying the MCU Spider-Man films, and I think this'll be another hit for them! Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
30 years ago today, the paired RPG monster-catching games Pokémon Red and Green were released in Japan. In 1998, they would come to the West as Pokémon Red and Blue. I remember seeing a copy of Red on a shelf in the electronics section of a Walmart. I was caught by the cover, showing a Charizard. I thought "Hey, that dragon looks neat", and from there, I was hooked.
I am a fan of the Pokémon franchise. If you've followed this blog over the years, you may have seen me put out Text Plays of various Pokémon fan games...which I can never seem to complete. Closest I got was Mega Adventure. And that was a very long time ago. But as for official games, we're now entering Generation X. As in Ten. Yeah, it blows my mind, too. This new pair of games is set in a yet-to-be-named region that is believed to be based on Southeast Asia. Basically, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, that part of the world. I think that's really neat. And that reminds me that I have to get through my copy of Sword, as it's based on my birth country of the UK. Anyway, let's look at the trailer!
That beachfront house looks like a very relaxing place. I'd love to visit it and just look out at the waves.
I wish I could draw that well. Just got to keep practicing.
I think these are previous regions in the series. Makes sense as this is an anniversary year. I mean, I do recognize Kalos and Galar.
Can't have a Pokémon game without a Pikachu!
Pikachus in clothes are always cute. I wonder if these Pikachu will be special ones.
Yeah, I can see why some would believe Southeast Asia is the inspiration for this game's region. Lots of water and islands? Yeah, that part of the world is full of islands.
My guess is these will be some of the Pokémon we'll see in this game. I know they'll introduce a bunch of new ones, but it's nice seeing some old ones return.
I wonder what that building is. Can't be a theme park. Maybe that's the lab of the resident Pokémon Professor?
And meet our player characters!
I love the hat on the male Trainer. I want that hat!
My guess is that Pokémon encounters and battles will be like those in Legends: Arceus. Makes sense. That style of battling really fits a full-3D game like that, and it would be the most realistic take on it.
Palossand! I like Palossand. Such a cute little grudge-animated pile of sand.
Wingull, Krabby, Tympole, and some other Pokémon I forgot the name of.
And meet the starters: Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua. They are rather cute, and I can see why Pombon has become such a big hit.
I got Pombon's name, a mix of Pomeranian and Bonfire. I have to admit, it took me a minute to get Gecqua's name. Gecko and Aqua. I'm a dope.
Not sure where Browt's name comes from. Maybe a reference to the words "branch" and "owl"? I have heard (well, read) a theory that the starters are references to Southeast Asian myth: the Garuda, Barong, and Naga. If this game's region is based on Southeast Asia, having starters that reference that region's mythology is a nice cultural touch.
I noticed that funny-looking cloud there. Is that a hint of this game's legendary or one of them?
Well, I have to admit, I am always excited about new Pokémon games! I can't wait to explore this new region, and see what sights there are to see. I can't wait to see what new Pokémon these games will introduce. Having the starters be the only "new" Pokémon shown here was a nice touch in my opinion, as it's a tradition to have the starters be the first "new" Pokémon introduced, and assures players some of their old favorites can return. I can't wait to get these! Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
Being a multi-media franchise, it makes sense that the Marvel Universe would also make its way to video games. Marvel would first make their way into the video game world in 1982 with a game that appropriately enough, focused on the character that was considered its mascot: Spider-Man. The self-titled game was released for the Atari 2600. From there, other games focusing on other characters would appear over the years.
The 1990s-2010s were arguably the Golden Era of Marvel Video Games, with tons of games coming out on various consoles, focusing on a variety of characters from throughout its mighty universe. And now, Limited Run games has collected some of them into one nice little package not just for gamers who have nostalgic memories of these games, but also new people who may have heard about them and never got to play them before. Like myself. Some of these games I have heard of, but never played in their heyday, and I grew up in this era. Let's look at the trailer!
Magneto rocking an especially evil grin there.
X-Men: The Arcade Game
Developed and published by Konami for the arcade in 1992, you play as one of six members of the X-Men (Wolverine I, Storm, Colossus, Cyclops, Dazzler, or Nightcrawler) in this beat-em-up. The point of the game is to basically save the world from their longtime nemesis Magneto. Along the way, you fight various villains from the X-Men's corner of the Marvel Universe, like Sentinels (including Nimrod), the Reavers, Emma Frost, etc.
I do remember this game was available on X-Box 360's Live Arcade many years ago. I didn't get it. I wish I did, looking back. I do remember playing a demo, and it was pretty fun. I can see that this game was the spiritual ancestor of the likes of Marvel Cosmic Invasion. By the way, if your console has a demo, get it. It's fun!
It makes sense there's be six-player online play. After all, the original game had six main characters, and up to six people could play at the same time.
Captain America and the Avengers
Developed and published by Data East for the arcades in 1991, you play as the titular heroes (Captain America I/Steve Rogers, Iron Man, Vision, or Hawkeye I/Clint Barton) to battle Cap's old nemesis the Red Skull and his army of supervillains and henchmen to prevent his plot to take over the world from succeeding. Data East would port the game to the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, and the Game Gear. They also did a version of the game for the NES, but that version was an action platformer and not a port of the arcade game.
It got a lot of quarters in the arcades, and from what I could see, it was seen as a decent game. The Game Gear version is seen as the worst port.
Hee hee, Mech Taco. The designers of that robot were drunk when they named it. 😵
The footage must be from one of the console ports, as it likely looked better in the arcade. I do like that this game has some shoot-em-up levels. Gives it a bit of variety.
Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge
Developed and released by LJN in 1992 for the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Game Gear, and the Game Boy. If you're a fan of the Angry Vido Game Nerd like I am, I know you're groaning right now. After all, LJN is the Rainbow of Death.
In this game, Spider-Man discovers the X-Men being kidnapped by their old nemesis Arcade and the heroes end up joining forces to escape the assassin's Murderworld. Murderworld is nothing new to the Web-Slinger, as he and Captain Britain got trapped in it in Marvel Team-Up #66 (January-February 1976).
I admit, I love the concept. It's always cool seeing superheroes team up. I imagine the console versions are the superior versions. In fact, from what I understand, the SNES/Genesis versions were considered superior to the handheld versions by critics. I would give the console versions a try myself.
Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage
Developed by Software Creations and released by Acclaim Entertainment/LJN for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis in 1994. This was one of the first Marvel games to be based on an actual comic book storyline. It also has music composed by Green Jelly. Yeah, I think this was also one of the first games that had a score composed by an actual band.
Both the SNES and Genesis versions are also unique for having their cartridges in non-standard colors (gray for SNES, black for Genesis). Naturally, the cartridges were red. They also did have cartridges in the standard colors, mine was regular Genesis black. This game was given mixed reviews on release, but it has been given retroactive praise and has developed a cult following.
Now this one brings back memories. I played this on the Genesis as a kid, and I enjoyed it. I would love if this was remade in the Shredder's Revenge/Marvel Cosmic Invasion style. I mean, imagine not just being able to play as Spider-Man and Venom, but also as other heroes that were in the game,
Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety
The sequel to Maximum Carnage, this was also developed by Software Creations and released by Acclaim Entertainment/LJN for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis in 1995. Also like Maximum Carnage, this game was based on a comic book storyline. Well, it was named after one miniseries, but the game's plot more closely follows another storyline.
In this game, Spider-Man and Venom must join forces once again to not only take on Carnage, but also his symbiote spawn as well as other threats like the Jury and the Life Foundation. This game was given mediocre reviews, and seen as an inferior game.
I remember seeing an ad for this somewhere, but I never really was hyped to play this game.
Heh heh, Venom doing a bit of ballet. No shame in that. Ballet keeps you limber.
Silver Surfer
Developed by Software Creations and published by Arcadia Systems in 1990, Silver Surfer was originally released for the NES. It was seen as a solid shoot-em-up, with its most memorable aspect being its soundtrack.
Now, this game I first learned of thanks to the Angry Video Game Nerd. He gave the impression that the game was ridiculously hard. Now, it wasn't hard because it was too challenging, it was hard because touching anything result in a loss of life. HE CAN'T TOUCH THAT FREAKIN' POT?!
Yeah. I don't get why everything is a hazard in this game. Hopefully, that can be adjusted in this collection.
I like that this game also includes the various ports of these games. Different people have different experiences and nostalgic connections to different games. And in my experience, I'm more curious. As I said before, I've had Maximum Carnage for the Sega Genesis, but that's really it when it comes to this era for me.
I like that a museum will be included. I hope it has lots of stuff in it, like concept art. I enjoy that stuff.
Well, this looks like it will be a great addition to my Switch library! I love that these games can be introduced to a new generation of gamers as well as provide some nostalgia to my generation. And for me, I can play some of these for the first time. Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
In Spider-Man: Noir #1 (February 2009), a new version of Marvel's mascot superhero was introduced as part of an alternate universe set of comics called Marvel Noir.Marvel Noir reinterpreted Marvel's classic heroes and villains in a film noir style set in the 1930s. This version of Peter Parker didn't wear a colorful costume, and was more brutal in his dealing with criminals, even willing to kill, something his mainstream counterpart would never do.
This version of Spider-Man would become quite popular, thanks to appearing in the Spider-Verse event comics, the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, and the animated film Into the Spider-Verse, where he was voiced by Nicholas Cage, modeling his voice work on 1930s-era actors James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart. Now, Cage is set to play the role in live action in the upcoming series Spider-Noir. In this series, this noir-based Spider-Man is private investigator Ben Reilly. Let's look at the trailer!
"Yeah, but I love it when you tell that story."
These scenes seem to imply that Ben got his powers from some kind of experiment. Maybe during World War I? This version of Ben is likely old enough to have served in that war.
There was that one time Ben lost control. It involved the horses, six gallons of ice cream, a stick of deodorant, and the fedora shipment. People don't like talking about it, and Ben is not allowed to ever step foot in Osaka ever again.
To be fair, those guys were asking for it. They made fun of his mom.
Ben is a lightweight. One sip, and he's a human tornado of punches.
Oh boy, a wannabe Jim Hammond.
WEEEEEEEEEEE!
I love that there's the option to watch in black-and-white and color, but I think the black-and-white will be the better experience. Would fit the era rather well.
Well, this looks rather enjoyable. I liked Cage in the first Spider-Verse animated film, and I am curious as to how he'll tackle the character in live-action, even if they're not quite the same. I think this is a great example of how superheroes can blend into other genres. I think I'll have a good time watching this. Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
In 2015, the television series Daredevil, based on the Marvel character of the same name, debuted on Netflix. The series lasted or three seasons and was critically acclaimed. It would also lead to a spinoff focusing on the Punisher, who was introduced in season two. The popularity of the series would lead to a revival/continuation on Disney+: Daredevil: Born Again. This series saw many of the cast reprise their roles, most notably Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin (Cox also cameoed as Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and D'Onofrio appeared as Fisk in Hawkeye). The first season of Born Again debuted in March 2025, to critical acclaim. Let's look at the trailer for Season 2!
Karen and Matt both freakin' love this song.
When Bullseye has worked hard killing people all day long, he likes to kick back and enjoy a chocolate shake. Mmm...chocolate shake...
And then reality sets in.
Considering how Season 1 ended, I imagine Matt is going to be in for a fight.
JESSICA JONES!
Ooh, billy club to the face. That's going to hurt.
"What I want to know is why do you have this giant ham in your trunk?!"
The trailer gives me the impression that this season is going to be a bit of a mind screw.
I admit, seeing Matt throw out that silly grin in his suit made me chuckle.
I enjoyed the first season, so...yeah, consider me hyped for this one. I can't wait to see how Matt frees New York from the iron grip of Mayor Fisk. And hopefully, Jessica's return heralds the return of a certain other pair of Defenders. And what of Frank Castle? What's he going to be up to? All I know that it's going to be bloody, and I can't wait. Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
In 1982, Mattel released a line of action figures known as Masters of the Universe. A science fantasy/sword-and-planet series, the toys had the mythos of a warrior called He-Man, who alongside his fellow heroic Masters, battled the evil Skeletor and his...Evil Warriors. Yeah, this stuff was hardly War and Peace. The toys would become a massive success, mainly thanks to the animated series, which ran 130 episodes. But animation would not be the only medium the franchise would appear in. Comic books, role-playing games, video games...and in 1987, a live-action film was made that starred Dolph Lundgren as He-Man. That film was a critical and commercial failure, but it's become regarded as a cult classic, and Frank Langella's portrayal of Skeletor was greatly praised.
While the franchise never reached its 1980s peak, it never really went away. For example, the Masters got another animated series in the 2000s that I personally thought was great. And it's got a couple animated miniseries on Netflix. I think those were good, too. This year, the Masters will return to the big screen with its second live-action film. Travis Knight takes the director's chair and English actor Nicholas Galitzine will be calling the power of Grayskull. Let's look at the trailer!
I've got to admit, Castle Grayskull looks pretty good. Although I am not really the biggest fan of everything looking washed out color-wise in Eternia. Really takes away from the idea of this place being this other world of adventure and magic.
Something about Eternia has always fascinated me, the idea that there's this land where sorcerers and monsters can co-exist alongside robots and aliens. Where magic and science are both the order of the day. I want to write a novel set in a world like that.
They missed out on an opportunity to put Cringer in place of Leo the Lion in the MGM logo. Maybe they'll do that in the actual film. At least, I hope so.
So, they're homaging the 1987 film by having Earth involved. Huh.
And you know certain people are losing their minds over this harmless minor gag. The guy is literally called HE-Man. Calm down.
The surname "Glenn" is an Easter Egg. In the 1980s cartoon, He-Man's mom was an Earth astronaut named Marlena Glenn.
That's an odd thing to say. People like hobbies. As long as he concentrates on his job at work time, I don't think that's much of an issue.
I like the nod to the 80s cartoon with the pink shirt.
"We're in a futuristic flying craft! How can it get any weirder?!"
I didn't recognize Man-at-Arms because of his armor. It should have had the orange-and-green of the original cartoon and toy.
Looks like we'll get lots of action. That's good. This is an action franchise, after all.
Skeletor looks good. Shame it's Jared Leto. Hopefully Knight was able to keep him on a very tight leash. How does that man keep getting work?! Does he have blackmail on various studio executives?!
Anyway, this looks...rather interesting. I don't doubt this will be a fun 'turn-off-your-brain' movie. Not everything has to be a somber examination of the human condition after all. I don't know if this will become a cult classic like the 1987 film was, but it would not surprise me if it does. I think I'll give it a watch. Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
When it comes to the Street Fighter franchise, one naturally would think of the video game series, especially Street Fighter II. That's understandable, as the game was a massive hit in arcades and home console releases. The game arguably popularized the fighting game as a genre, and the characters would become iconic. This game's world would make the series into a full-on multimedia franchise, which covered comic books, animated series, and yes, movies.
Street Fighter has graced live-action film before. Mainly, the notorious 1994 film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and the late Raul Julia as M. Bison. The film was a box office and video hit, but fans and critics disliked it. However, it has over the years, been regarded as a cult classic. And now, the high-kickin' punch-throwin' Hadouken-throwin' gang is returning to the live-action silver screen with a new film directed by Kitao Sakurai from a screenplay he and T.J. Fixman developed from a story by Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman.
The film has an ensemble cast, including Andrew Koji as Ryu, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, and for wrestling fans like me, we got Cody Rhodes as Guile and Roman Reigns as Akuma. Let's look at this teaser!
Wow. Callina Liang looks incredible as Chun-Li.
Good lord, look at the size of this lad! That man is an absolute unit! Where did they find this guy?!
I love that for Guile they just show his hairstyle, because it's that iconic.
Nice they have Ryu's intro animation from the game.
I admit, I'm a bit mixed on David Dastmalchian as M. Bison. I don't think he quite fits it in the looks department, but at the same time, I don't doubt he'll put in a heck of a performance.
I'm surprised Guile didn't scream "AMERICAAAAAAAA!" when he kicked Vega through that wall. Although going through a wall has to hurt.
Looks like we'll get more actual fights than the 1994 film, so that's nice. Don't get me wrong, I love that movie, but yeah. It needed more brawls.
BLEEEEEAAHHHHHH! Ken loves showing off his tongue.
You know, Chun-Li, there are people that will pay you to do that to them.
Ooh, that blow will hurt! Why would you hit someone there?! Seriously?!
Man, these fights look fun!
I liked that kick cut. Smooth as butter.
Well, this looks utterly dumb, ridiculous, and idiotic. I think this movie will be a ton of fun! Yeah, this will be one of those 'turn-your-brain-off-and-have-a-good-time' movies. And that's perfectly fine. It's okay to enjoy a mindless fun movie every now and then. I think this'll be a fun time at the theater! Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! The dynamic New DC Cinematic Universe marches on! After her appearance in 2025's Superman, Milly Alcock is flying high as the Maid of Might in her second live-action adventure since 1984. Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, it tells the tale of the titular Girl of Steel celebrating her birthday...which leads her to a search for brutal revenge. The film will also star David Krumholtz, Jason Momoa, and Emily Beecham, and James Gunn and Peter Safran are producers. Let’s look at the trailer!
Say what you will about Kara, but she has good taste in tunes. "Call Me" by Blondie is a classic.
I imagine that's the most effort Kara has put into paper-training Krypto.
If you don't get the reference, this film is clearly drawing from the 2021 miniseries Woman of Tomorrow, written by Tom King and with art by Brazilian artist Bilquis Evely. I've heard it was good, but I've never been interested in reading it, as I have no clue if it's canon or not.
Yeah, you see, it can be implied that Krypton's destruction was not only as instantaneous as one originally believed, but that unlike Clark, Kara does remember its destruction. It does explain why she is so jaded and has the "party girl" persona.
I've heard some people say this is just ripping off Guardians of the Galaxy. They are idiots. James Gunn is not making this movie, and the only commonalities these films have is they are set in space and they have aliens. That is literally it.
You better hope you're under a yellow sun when you talk trash, Kara.
LOBO!
I expect much violence and brutality towards bastiches.
I love that Superman seems to be famous throughout the galaxy in this universe. I can imagine that must affect some folks' view of Kara. Her wearing his symbol, acting the way she does. I can believe that there are some folks who think that she is an embarrassment and disgrace to him and his emblem. Just goes to show how judgmental some folks can be.
"He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth." I think this will be from the beginning, when Kara is still cynical and emotionally wounded from her traumas. Over the course of the film, she'll start the healing process. It's the classic arc. I don't think Kara will truly become a "goody-two-shoes" at the end, but we'll see her start to overcome her traumas and become a stronger better person for it.
This film looks like it's going to be an enjoyable time. I can't wait to see the Maid of Might return to the big screen. I think this film will do a great job exploring Kara and make us root for her on this epic adventure. Especially since it has that True Grit vibe. Thanks for reading this blog entry! Back in 2023, the animated film The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released, produced by Illumination and Nintendo. Directed by Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath, it had quite a star-powered voice cast, with Chris Pratt and Charlie Day voicing the titular brothers, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach Toadstool, and Jack Black as Bowser. Critics were mixed on the film, but it grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide, being the first film based on a video game to do so.
In a Nintendo Direct in September 2025 announced a sequel: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Let's look at the trailer!
Man, Bowser is an intense painter! Although I will admit, it is nice that he's finally found himself a hobby. And I thought the bait-and-switch was pretty clever.
I can imagine that he draws inspiration from Jackson Pollack.
I love that Mario is holding a grudge. Can't blame him, really.
His tiny voice is hilarious.
You know, Luigi, Bowser did kidnap you, tried to kill you and your brother, and also tried to force Peach to marry him.
I imagine that Mario was inwardly enjoying trashing Bowser's art. Can't blame him, really. Guy did kidnap his brother, tried to kill him, and the big turtle-dragon tried to force Peach to marry him. I admit, I'd be gleefully hating on him, too.
Yeah, I imagine Mario was throwing out his best smirk seeing Bowser injure his tail.
Hey, the Star Festival from Mario Galaxy! Makes sense, this is the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, after all. And of course, the gang travel by Launch Stars, just like in the game!
That shot of Mario and Luigi on the bikes is very Mad Max.
Hey, is that...the Sand Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey?!
Freakin' Ninjis! I swear, you take down one, a hundred more appear out of nowhere!
And of course, Bowser Junior from Super Mario Sunshine. I wonder if we'll get to see the Koopalings. I know that it has been said the Koopalings are not Bowser's kids, but it would be nice for them to get a mention. Also, who is Bowser Junior's mom?
Really cool they used the Prowler theme. Helps give the kid a bit of menace.
Oh hey, Rosalina! Wonder when you'd show.
Megaleg. Another reference to Mario Galaxy. And I'm betting Bowser Junior is operating it.
Rosalina: "Yeah, no. Go away."
I love that this trailer implies that Rosalina is a capable princess. I mean, she has become a playable character in recent games, so the portrayal does make sense.
Well, I loved the last Mario movie, so I am very much looking forward to this one! I can't wait to see how they use the elements of Galaxy, Odyssey, and Sunshine. Maybe we'll get to meet Bowser Junior's mother. Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
