Marvel Tokon: Unbreakable X-Men Trailer, My Thoughts

Back in June 2025, I took a look at the announcement trailer for the upcoming fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Redundant title aside ("Tokon" means "fighting souls" in Japanese), it looked like a fun fighting game with a unique twist: you control a "team" of fighters. One of these teams focuses on a certain group of merry mutants. Let's look at the trailer!

In case you are not aware, Chandilar is the central world of the Shi'ar Empire. The Shi'ar are bird-like aliens that are most linked to the X-Men, but they have crossed paths with the Avengers. Most notably in the Avengers: Galactic Storm storyline. You may be familiar with that crossover if you're a regular reader here on this blog.

And it definitely has seen better days, based on this devastation.

Crazy thing is, in the Marvel Universe, there are no shortage of beings that can cause this level of carnage if they so desired to.

Well, looks like we won't get to have Gladiator in this game. Or any of the Imperial Guard. A shame, really. They'd be fun surprise characters to have in a game. Especially Nightside. She's a favorite of mine for some reason. And her shadow powers would make for some fun possibilities in a fighting game.

Yeah, Ororo gets like this when someone asks her if the pizza arrived.

Magik is not quite a surprising inclusion. She has been a full-on X-Men team member in recent years, and her profile has been raised thanks to her being in Midnight Sons, Marvel Strike Force, and Marvel Rivals.

And of course, the original Wolverine, James "Logan" Howlett. Again, not a surprise. It's practically the law to have him if you have X-Men in your game.

Wait, Danger?! Alright, an unexpected choice! About time!

For those not in the know, Danger first appeared in Astonishing X-Men #8 (February 2005). She is a robotic lifeform, born from the X-Men's training facility known as the Danger Room. She was essentially the Danger Room's AI that had gained sentience. Professor Xavier hid this from the other X-Men to keep using her to train them. Naturally, this left with a... few anger issues regarding her "father". Just a few.

It makes sense that Danger would remark that she's the last of Shi'ar technology. In the comics, the Danger Room used Shi'ar technology. In fact, it was that tech that made her sentient in the first place. And yup, it's a Japanese game. Of course they'd make Danger a cute robot girl. In case you're wondering, this is what she looks like in the comics.

I can also see that Danger saw Iron Man's Proton Cannon and got envious, ha ha.

And of course, the Xavier Institute is a battleground. Again, makes sense. It's the X-Men's home, and it's seen its fair share of action over the years. I think it would be real funny if you could end up brawling inside the house as well.

Well, this looks like a cool team. I was a bit disappointed that the team was mostly X-Men stalwarts, but I do get it. The addition of Danger was a pleasant surprise, though. I hope she gets more appearances in the comics as a result of this. Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! See you next time!
