Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trailer

So, I saw the trailer for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film:

Now, I am well aware of the response to the trailer, especially since Michael Bay is involved. One of the big complaints I have heard about the film is the appearance of the Turtles themselves, being often compared to Shrek.

To be honest...I don't think the film will be that bad, to be honest. Yeah, Michael Bay will be involved, but he's only producing, not directing. And he has said his team will be working with the creators to tell a good story that is true to the source material, and Kevin Eastman has shown his support for the new film. Besides, it's sure to be better than that the film that the infamous leaked "Blue Door" script put out.

As for the Turtles' looks, the one thing that I will admit that threw me off was their size. These turtles are...big. They are big Turtles. I will admit, I also do think their faces are kinda funny (I think they were trying to go for a mix of human and turtle). However, let's keep something in mind. The Teenage Mutant Turtles are turtles that were mutated by radioactive ooze. A little bit of weird in their look is perfectly fine, as far as I'm concerned.

As for the trailer itself, it's gotten me very excited for this film. I can't wait to see this film, and it will hopefully be the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie I get to see in an actual theater. I never got to see the previous TMNT live-action movies in theaters as I was only a kid.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I got to go out and do something a lot of fun. I went to see the new Marvel Studios film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I had been anticipating this film for quite some time, and I even bought, and enjoyed, the original comic story by Ed Brubaker (who makes a cameo in this film), and Steve Epting. I will try my very best to avoid spoilers in the film.

In short, I loved it. I thought it was just as good as The First Avenger. It to me, paid homage to the political thrillers of the 1970s like All The President's Men (Appropriately enough, Robert Redford, who was in that film, has a major role in this one). Kevin Feige described The Winter Soldier as essentially a political thriller described as a superhero film, and he was dead-on with this.

As for the film itself, it was well-made. It was a fine adaptation of what has become one of my personal favorite Captain America stories (right up there with "Captain America No More" and the entire nine-issue Roger Stern/John Byrne run, which was collected in trade form as "War and Rememberance"). All the actors did spectacular work in their roles, and they do deserve commendation.

One thing I have always loved about the MCU films is that they are giving screen time to lesser-known characters. This film is no exception. Taking a little-known character like Alexander Pierce and giving him a major role is especially awesome.

The fight scenes in the film were incredibly epic, frantic and exciting to watch. There were also some moments of great humor in the film. And the mid-credits scene was a shocker. Even though I knew these two characters would be coming, I didn't expect the third, but considering the villains of this picture, I really should.
