Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day, everyone!

Here in the US, Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday in September. It's a day that celebrates the American worker. It's seen here as the unofficial end of summertime, as many sport and school activities are starting again at this time.

The origins of the day are unclear, but it's generally agreed that the day rose in the 19th century with the growth of labor unions and trade movements. In 1887, Oregon became the first US state to celebrate Labor Day as a public holiday. 29 more states would also celebrate Labor Day by the time it became a federal holiday in 1894.

As part of the celebration, parades and events are held in many places, like New York City's Labor Day Carnival. Retailers also hold special sales. If you want to learn more about the history of Labor Day, I suggest you go here.

Since it's also the beginning of September, I figured you'd all enjoy a song. So, here you go! Enjoy this classic tune!
