Happy 4th of July, everyone! And Happy 243rd Birthday, America!
Yup, this year celebrates America's 243rd birthday! On this day, 243 years ago, the Continental Congress declared themselves no longer part of the British Empire and their own nation: The United States of America. It declared its independence with a statement called, basically, the Declaration of Independence, mainly written by Thomas Jefferson.
This day is often celebrated with barbecues, picnics, and many non-essential government institutions (like the postal service) are closed for the day, as it's a federal holiday.
On this day, talk with some family, treat yourself to some barbecue, and enjoy the fireworks! And please be considerate of veterans who suffer PTSD and the pets with the fireworks.
Have a nice day!
