Green Lantern: Beware My Power Trailer, My Thoughts

If you ever watched the DCAU animated series Justice League, you may be aware of a certain member of the Green Lantern Corps named John Stewart. First appearing in Green Lantern #87 (December 1971/January 1972), he was created by Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams. He was DC's second Black superhero. I believe Black Lightning was the first. Anyway, the character had been a part of the comics for decades, being the main GL for much of the 1980s, and eventually becoming a Guardian of the Universe in the 1990s. The DCAU would give John a massive boost in mainstream popularity, allowing him to continue to appear in other media. And now, he's getting an animated film of his own: Green Lantern: Beware My Power! Let's look at the trailer!

John Stewart is having one heck of day. Didn't get any coffee, lost his mail, and now meeting the Justice League.

Attacked by a Martian wearing a harness. It really is not John Stewart's day.

John, you're talking to a wannabe Robin Hood, a woman who can harness the powers of animals, and an actual extraterrestrial being. You'd be surprised how open-minded that can make you.

Well, at least it didn't land on his house.

I see that this film is mirroring how Hal Jordan got the ring in the comics. Also, what're you gonna do with those leftover Guardian clothes? Donate them?

I hate that they killed off Hal, as I like Hal, but at least they had him go out a hero.

If this Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman is anything like the DCAU one, I can imagine that if you tell her a fight is coming, she'll only want to know two things: what weapons she needs, and where it'll be at.

KAY-OH!

Hey, Lyssa Drak!

This looks like a very fun movie. I can't wait to watch it! It's really cool that DC is doing animated movies that focus on characters other than Batman. And God knows Green Lantern could use some love in non-comic media these days. I will be picking this up! Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home, wash your hands often, wear a mask, and get vaccinated/boosted! See you next time!
