Deadpool and Wolverine Teaser, My Thoughts

Back in 2016, 20th Century Fox released the film Deadpool. Directed by Tim Miller (his first feature film) and starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular Merc with a Mouth, it was the 8th film in the X-Men film series. It was a critical and financial success, earning $782 million against a $58 million budget, and was actually the highest-earning R-Rated film ever for a period of time. In 2018, the sequel, Deadpool 2 was released. But now with 20th Century Fox being acquired by Disney, that means Marvel Studios has regained the live-action film rights to X-Men characters, including Deadpool. This led to this new upcoming film, which will also bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Let's look at the trailer for the upcoming 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Deadpool and Wolverine! A bit of warning before we begin, this trailer is a bit NSFW, so I highly recommend not watching this at work.

Happy Birthday, Wade! Time to celebrate! 🎉

Heh heh, Wade has a hairpiece.

Wait, didn't Shatterstar got diced up by helicopter blades in Deadpool 2! How is he here? And where did Domino go?

Nice to see Negasonic and Yukio are still together.

Yay, Peter! ...why has he not been brought into the comics?

You know, being able to break the Fourth Wall, you'd think Wade would be genre-savvy enough to know that peaceful times like this are only calms before big storms hit.

"Hey, you guys aren't the pizza delivery boy!"

The TVA! I wonder if this is pre- or post-Loki? I mean, the uniforms look a little different.

Okay, that was funny.

You guys could have at least let him keep his toupee.

It would have been weird if Wade didn't soil himself.

The actor there reminds me of Kevin Spacey.

Welcome to the MCU, Deadpool. We hope you survive. ...well, considering his healing factor, he likely would.

I like that little bit with Wade saluting Captain America. Wade admires the man in the comics, so it's nice to see that little detail shouted out.

Hey, an appearance by Logan in his Patch persona! 😀 I have heard a theory that this isn't the Hugh Jackman Wolverine of Wade's universe, but the "native MCU" version of Wolverine.

So, he's going to be Marvel's...personal Jesus? 🎵Reach out and touch faith... ðŸŽµ

If you watch carefully in that fast-going montage, Wade gets spanked.

And of course Wade is in a place with a crumbling Twentieth Century Fox logo. I think he's in the Void from Loki. Would make sense, considering the TVA being here.

That reload shot ruled.

I think these shots were altered to keep something hidden.

Hey, Pyro is back! 😀 And he's wearing an orange-and-red outfit!

Heh, like in the first movie!

That comic lying next to Wade appears to be an issue of the 2015 Secret Wars event. Makes sense, considering we're in the Multiverse Saga...

Ooh, I bet that will hurt.

Well, consider me excited! I have enjoyed the previous two Deadpool movies, and I can't wait to see this one in the theaters! Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, show it off! Take care of yourselves and each other! Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home, wash your hands often, wear a mask, and get your vaccine/booster! See you next time!

Movie Review: Deadpool 2 (2018)

In 2016, Deadpool made his solo film debut, and the Merc with A Mouth got much critical praise and lots of money from the box office. And naturally, a sequel came about. Was it a hit, or did it make people want to shut Deadpool up? Let's find out!

Deadpool has been making a living for the last couple of years as a mercenary. But when a failed hit comes back to bite him, the Merc finds himself in a rough place. He needs to get his mojo back, and when a mutant teenager causes an incident, and the time-traveling cyborg Cable shows up, it just may be the thing Deadpool needs to get himself back in order.

There are a couple of things I think this film does do very well. One is surprising people. If you've seen the trailers, you know Deadpool forms a team. Well, what happened to them was a genuine shock, and is utterly hilarious. This film had me laughing through it. Also, I think the people in charge of Deadpool's soundtrack had a thing for 80s music.

One of the villains was also surprising. I never expected this character to be appearing in the film at all. But it was awesome to see him there.

The cast was fantastic. There was a cameo that I never expected in the movie. Ryan Reynolds shows how much he embodies Deadpool like Robert Downey Jr. embodied Iron Man, or Christopher Reeve embodied Superman. Reynolds brought the hilarity, but also showed some wonderful emotional moments. Josh Brolin as Cable was also a ton of fun, but it's not hard to think of him as Thanos a bit. It's the voice. Zazie Beetz was fun as the ever-lucky Domino, and the film shows off her luck power well.

I don't really have any major complaints about the film. It does use one trope that did cause some controversy, but the film in its own way turns it on its head. There was another new character I  wanted the film to explore a bit more, since she did something cool in the movie. Sorry about the vagueness, I'm trying to avoid spoilers.

Should you see Deadpool 2? I say, yeah. It's a hilarious movie with a surprising amount of heart. But it does have the R rating for a reason, so keep that in mind.

Deadpool 2 Final Trailer, My Thoughts

Deadpool 2 is coming! Considering the success of the first solo movie starring the Merc with the Mouth, it was a no brainer they'd do a sequel. Does the trailer bring the hype? Let's find out! Also, I do want to warn you. This trailer does have some NSFW language, so keep that in mind before you play this. Thank you.

We got a truck. Even better, we got a convoy! Cue up the C.W. McCall!

So, Deadpool is going to rescue a kid in trouble, huh? Well, this version of Deadpool does see himself as...kind of a superhero, so he would rescue a kid, as that is something superheroes do.

Yeah, we should watch out for Cable. He does not seem like a nice neighborly dude.

"Pump the hate breaks, Thanos!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Evidently, Cable's after the kid too, huh? Considering time travel is part of the character's story in the comics, I'm guessing the kid is significant to the timeline.

I do like Negasonic's new hairdo. I can imagine how it came about:
Colossus: New hairstyle, Ellie?
Negasonic: Yeah. I saw this old video of this dude named Elvis Presley. He's pretty cool. He freaked people out by shaking his hips!
Colossus: The 50s were a more...paranoid time, Ellie.

I wonder who her new friend is. I don't think she's from the comics.

Bedlam. That's a deep 90s cut right there. I wonder if he'll display his ability to create electromagnetic pulses from the comics. And him being played by Terry Crews makes it better.

Oh GOD, Shatterstar! HAHAHAHAHA! You know Deadpool will be poking fun of the craziness surrounding him. He looks better here than he did in the 90s.

Wow. Cable must be packing some heat if he's able to send Colossus flying like that.

That DC universe joke got me laughing so hard.

Oh God, Cable got Wade's crotch to the face. Truly a fate worse than death.

Heh heh, One-Eyed Willie. Because Josh Brolin, who plays Cable in this movie, was in Goonies.

Heh heh, Peter's going to be the break-out character. All the poor man wanted was a job...

Well, this trailer got me hyped. I loved the first Deadpool, and I think this one is going to be pretty good, too.

Deadpool 2 Trailer

When Deadpool made his feature film debut, the results were...underwhelming. However, Ryan Reynolds did get praise for his portrayal of the character. So, it only made sense that he would play the lead in Deadpool's solo movie. Unlike X-Men: Origins - Wolverine, Deadpool's solo movie was hit with critics and fans. It captured the essence of the character, and naturally, a sequel would be ordered. And here's the trailer! One word of warning, there is some NSFW language in this trailer.

Hi, Cable! How was your nap? Dreaming of your confusing family line again?

Aww, Cable has a teddy bear. How cute. Nice to see he's kept in touch with his inner child in a small way.

And the trailer gets HILARIOUS. Incompetent movie studio people being incompetent, and I loved the dig to Justice League and Henry Cavill's moustache. Ha ha ha!

Sheriff Deadpool needs to be an actual action figure.

Josh Brolin looks really awesome as Cable. And so does Zazie Beetz as Domino. And it looks like Negasonic Teenage Warhead's been practicing and refining her powers a bit. Also like her new hairstyle.

Negasonic: Yeah, I saw some old video of this guy named Elvis Presley. He was pretty cool.

CABLE LEAPT OVER A TRUCK.

Hey, the cab driver is back!

This trailer is hilarious! I love it so much! I cannot wait for this movie!

Deadpool and the R-Rating.

Deadpool's movie has come out to stellar reviews and massive box office success. I myself did a review of it here.

It also has a distinction of being one of the few superhero films to be given an "R" rating. With this, and the announcement of the next Wolverine film shooting for an "R" rating, as well as a possible X-Force film going for that as well, it has led me to be somewhat concerned.

Calm down, Deadpool. Now, I am not saying there should never be any R-Rated superhero films. I am just worried that with Deadpool's success, studios will get the wrong idea and want every superhero film to go for the rating. The R rating worked for Deadpool because he is a character that can fit into it. He can be bloody. He can be violent. And he can be crude. That is his character, and an R rating fits for him.

Problem is...such a rating does not fit EVERY character. Punisher, yes. Wolverine, yes. Deadpool, yes. However, let me ask you this...do you want an R-Rated Spider-Man, an R-Rated Captain America, or an R-Rated Squirrel Girl movie?

Yeah, I thought so. Personally, I don't really want that. I don't want every superhero film to shoot for an "R" rating, because...they don't NEED to. Look at the MCU. The films generally get a PG-13 rating, and they still do very well in the box office. As I said, the rating can fit some characters, but it doesn't fit everyone, and I hope the studios keep that in mind.

Deadpool Review

Well, it is finally here! Deadpool is here! And I got to watch it!

I have to admit, I have been excited for a film ever since I saw the famous test footage with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool via motion capture, and I have to admit, his Deadpool seemed just like the comic, complete with accurate costume.

While being as spoiler-free as possible, I will say this: This film was hilarious and had some warped moments. Reynolds's Wade Wilson was anti-heroic and hilarious.

The film had a lot of laughs, and some very nice appearances from the X-Men Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Props for this film using obscure characters!). It even managed to sneak in an homage to Bob, Agent of HYDRA.

The movie was bloody, violent, and hilarious ride. Ryan Reynolds is clearly having a blast being Deadpool, and it's really cool seeing him bounce off all these other characters. All the actors did very well, Gina Carano's Angel Dust was one bad bruiser, Leslie Uggams' Blind Al was a fun mother figure to Deadpool, and Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead was your typical broody movie teenager.

As for any negatives...well, it did feel a bit formulaic, but it didn't bother me watching the film. It also was surprising seeing Deadpool being a bit of a romantic, but again, it didn't bother me that much.

Go see the film. If you like violence with laughs, this is your movie. If you like Deadpool, this is your Deadpool movie. I can't wait for a sequel!
