Today is World UFO Day!
The purpose of this day is to encourage watching the skies for potential signs that other beings are visiting us. There were originally two days it was celebrated: Today, and on June 24. Some celebrated this day because on that day in 1947, American aviator Kenneth Arnold claimed to have seen nine strange objects flying near Mount Rainier, Washington. This is considered the first modern UFO sighting.
Others chose to celebrate on this day because it's the day it's believed a UFO crashed in Roswell, New Mexico.
