Ocean's 8 Trailer, My Thoughts

Ocean's Eleven. In 2001, Warner Bros. Pictures released this remake of the 1960 Rat Pack film starring George Clooney. It was a critical and commercial success, leading to two sequels: 2004's Ocean's Twelve, and 2007's Ocean's Thirteen. Now, a spin-off is coming to theaters, led by Sandra Bullock, who will be playing the estranged sister of George Clooney's Danny Ocean. Let's take a look at the trailer to Ocean's 8!

The trailer begins with Sandra Bullock in jail. Oh, dear. Evidently Jesse James was a worse influence on her than we thought. Pretty soon, she's going to get those sleeve tattoos. You know, the ones that completely cover the arms? I think she'd go for roses with vines all over them.

We get her saying that if she's released, she'd just want a simple life. Since this is a heist film, her idea of a "simple life" is just robbing a couple of small town banks. Nothing really big, not like she's going to go get a crew and rob the Met Gala or anything.

So, there's Cate Blanchett. Evidently, after getting her Goddess of Death butt kicked by Thor and Loki, Hela's decided to just hide out on Midgard until that whole brawl with Thanos thing blows over.

Hmm, I recognize Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, and a couple of other people I don't recognize. Quite an interesting bunch here.

You have to love that Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock are casually plotting a heist in a diner where other people can hear them.

Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking". Nice touch there, trailer makers. The original version of Ocean's 11 was a Rat Pack film, and starred Frank Sinatra, Nancy's father. Nice nod to the past there.

This trailer seems to be hinting that each of the characters have their own reasons and motivations for participating in this heist. That's a cool idea, I like that. Makes things more interesting.

Why does Sarah Paulson's character have all that stuff in the garage? Is she a smuggler or something?

So, they're going to swipe a fancy necklace from the Met Gala. Good luck fencing that thing.

This film looks like it'll be interesting. It's got a good cast, at least the members I know. I'll give it a look.
