NWA Powerrr Episode 16, My Thoughts

It's time to check in with the National Wresting Alliance once again as they bring the Powerrr once again! Hard Times have come and gone for the NWA, and how did the landscape change? Let's find out!

Man, NWA traded up when they ditched Cornette for Stu Bennett.

Marty Scurll has made it clear what he wants. He wants that NWA Championship!

Oh neat, Sean Mooney! Talk about a blast from the past!

Sure, Nick. You're not a braggart.

Nicky did rant about "clickbait" in an earlier episode.

Is "The Marathon Man" what Nick thinks Mrs. Aldis calls him?

Hard Times came for the Rock 'n' Roll Express as their ninth NWA Tag Team Championship reign came to an end at the hands of Eli Drake and James Storm! I liked the showing of respect and sportsmanship there. Rather refreshing.

And Sal Rinauro will be joining on commentary for this upcoming match. I get the feeling they're trying to make him a bigger deal on the roster. He has appeared in past episodes, and did put on a good showing at that TV Title gauntlet...

Match #1 - Royce Issacs (with May Valentine) vs. Andre Guhn

I like Royce's boots. And the crowd is really getting behind Guhn, chanting his name.

It does seem like they're trying to set Royce up as a solo star lately. I wonder if this means we'll see a breakup of the Wild Cards in the future? And where will that leave Thom Latimer?

Can Royce hear the commentary? I can't think of why he'd get in Rinauro's face.

Winner: Royce Issacs

This is more of a storyline thing than an actual match. Looks like there's some trouble in paradise for Royce and May...

Hard Times came for Allysin Kay as Thunder Rosa became the new NWA Women's Champion! She's also the very first NWA Women's Champion from Mexico! Congrats, Rosa! You're a pioneer!

I did wish they changed up the set a bit for the PPV. At the very least decorate the ring with a special apron and ring ropes. It makes the whole think look a bit low-budget and cheap, like they couldn't afford to decorate the ring.

Let her talk, Melina!

Next episode will be the rematch! And Thunder Rosa intends to clobber Kay again!

In other news, NWA's third PPV is next month! And it's the 2020 Crockett Cup!

Poor Marty. He just wants to get interviewed and go home.

Hard Times did not come for Ricky Starks, because he became the new NWA TV Champion! Starks is on Powerrr tonight, and he wants a piece of Zicky Dice!

That stuff cannot be that expensive, Zicky.

Match #2 - NWA TV Title Match - Ricky Starks (c) vs. Zicky Dice

I think they're going for that whole "fighting champion" thing with Ricky.

Winner: Ricky Starks

Fun title defense.

Does Aron Stevens and the Question Mark want the tag belts?

Aron Stevens is a coward, ha ha!

I bet Eli and James got real drunk last night.

How is Joe Galli keeping a straight face during this?! This is hilarious!

And Trevor Murdoch wants Stevens' NWA National Championship!

This Aldis/Scurll segment is awesome. Aldis claims that he's the nice guy everyone dumps on, and Scrull wants to finally win the big one and prove he can become a champion.

Scurll has to give every person who attends the Crockett Cup their money back? That's a rather unique stipulation. Kudos.

I miss "Into the Fire".

This was a fun episode! Can't wait for the next one. I wish there was another match, though. Maybe a women's match to build up some new contenders for the Women's Title. My favorite parts were the Eli Drake/James Storm and Aron Stevens/Question Mark segments and the Aldis/Scrull encounter. I also liked the appearance by Sal Rinauro on commentary, as it seems they're giving the guy more spotlight. This episode was more of a storyline one than an action one, so that's fine. I can't wait for the next episode!

Thanks for reading this blog entry! If you liked it, spread it around! See you next time! Man, I have to get caught up...
