Wasteland 2 Announcement Trailer, My Thoughts

In 1988, Electronic Arts released the game known as Wasteland. Set in a post-apocalyptic 2087, you played as a group of Desert Rangers that explored the nuclear horrors of the Southwest United States. The game was only released for various computers, including the Apple II, Commodore 64, and MS-DOS machines. The game did get two follow-ups: the 1990 game Fountain of Dreams, and the cancelled Meantime. Wasteland was critically acclaimed, and became an influence to the later Fallout series.

The game would finally get a proper sequel, Wasteland 2, in 2014. Published by Deep Silver and developed by inXile Entertainment, the game was funded by a Kickstarter campaign. Like its predecessor, Wasteland 2 was given a positive response by critics and was released solely to computers.

Until now. In recent years, an enhanced Director's Cut of the game has been hitting consoles: PS4, Xbox One...and the Nintendo Switch. The Director's Cut promises better graphics, and new features like expanded voiceovers and new perks/quirks. Let's take a look at the announcement video.

So, this is being produced by the same people that produced the original Fallout, huh? Explains certain gameplay features.

Welcome to the Wasteland. Wipe your feet, and do not pet the glowing scorpions. They're mean. Also, don't get the giant mutant chickens going. They are loud and very fowl-mouthed. Heh heh.

Was that a robot scorpion?! Hey, Scorponok! How ya doing?

Well, the party's at a diner now. Hope we can get some good food here. I'm in the mood for a Proton Burger with a nice cold Nuka-Cola.

Zombies?! There are zombies in this game, too?! Man, they get into everywhere these days!

I hope we get to build bases and modify them over time. I love base-building.

Heh heh, Killer Klowns.

They killed that guy's goat! Come on! That's not right! ...are you guys gonna eat it? I want to try goat meat now.

I have to admit, I had a minor fascination with this game since I saw some gameplay videos of it on the Internet. I would love to give this a try.
